Busalacchi, Cathy (Student Union) is Stepping Beyond

“She’s retiring after a gazillion years of supporting our students and changing lives. She’s been a staunch supporter of the interest of our students. She has been the voice for thousands of students as she passionately represented and protected their footprints on our campus. She’s a star…she deserves an award for stepping beyond…she’s like beyond beyond! On behalf of ALL STUDENTS thank you! We’ll miss you. I’ll miss the occasional glass of Chardonnay but I will come find you. Love, MT Athletic Director Go Spartans!” –Marie Tuite

Le, Kim (Nursing) is Stepping Beyond

“Kim has been amazing. I am a relatively new employee, and Kim has been supportive, informative, collegial, and unfailingly kind as I have started my journey here at SJSU. On top of the support she has given me, she has also been functioning in her own role (department finance) while having taken on the responsibilities of a coworker who was unexpectedly put on medical leave. She has carried both full time jobs with grace and persistence while continuing to advocate for her coworkers when needed. Every day, Kim makes it clear that her priority is the department as a whole, and has done so responsibly with regards to the University and student body.” –Maya Carlyle

Soto, Reuben (University Personnel) is Stepping Beyond

“Reuben has been a fantastic support for my last minute questions about my benefits and getting them set up. I had a few panic moments when I started at SJSU but Reuben was quick to meet with me and made sure everything was taken care of (every single time). He is amazing!” –Kelly Preston

Gleixner, Stacy (Student and Faculty Success) is Stepping Beyond

Stacy Gleixner has been a driving force behind SJSU’s efforts to meet Graduation Initiative 2025. Her leadership and vision have helped SJSU double its freshman 4-year graduation rate and significantly increase 6-year freshman and 2-year transfer graduation rates.

As just one example of her impact, she has changed the conversation around advising on campus and fostered a community of committed and informed advisors who work together to ensure that our students are getting the advising they need to be successful. There are so many other important and impactful programs she has initiated.

Stacy thank you for your energy and creativity in guiding the campus to create a new culture around student success. You are an inspiration to all of us.” –Thalia Anagnos
